Lake Taupo + National Park

Left Taupo yesterday after being very disappointed by the weather - we weren't able to skydive at all, which sucked! Went on a bit of a sailing trip instead and saw some lovely Maori carvings in the rockface, which was interesting at least.

Arrived today in Tongariro National Park to inclement weather (it pissed it down lol), but it cleared up enough for us to do a 2 hour walk and to get some stunning photos, woohoo! Tomorrow am doing the arduous Tongariro crossing - a 17km hike across some stunning mountain ranges, if the weather holds. Should be fun!

Wow, you're certainly getting around now and seeing the sights. Part of me is relieved that you didn't get to do the skydiving (sounds rather scary!) but if it's any consolation the weather here has been "inclement" as well. Parts of England had snow again this week, although Leamington just had some ice.

A 17 km walk in mountainous country certainly sounds arduous - take plenty of water! Keep the news and photos coming - we're following your progress on the map! However, the decorators will start on the hall next week, so the maps will need to find a new home.
