Rangitoto

, J

Had a little day trip to Rangitoto Island, which is a 600 year old volcano situated in Auckland harbour. Was beautiful weather and got some nice photots, as well as having a bit of a hike!
Have sorted my travel southbound, I'll be leaving Auckland on Monday, finally!

One Tree Hill

Once aptly named, until the locals took down the tree in 2002, this is probably the largest dormant volcano in the Auckland area, and offers some stunning views! The obelisk, albeit somewhat freemason-esque, gives the hill a real sense of individualism, because there are 46 other volcanoes in Auckland :D

First beautiful day we've had in a while too. Roll on summer!

November news

Thought it may well be time for a blog update, since life is too dull to blog much at the moment :<

To that end however, I left my job at Greenpeace today. It has been an interesting 6 weeks doing a job I'd never tried before, and I'm glad I did the job, but I'm ready for a change, be it a different job or FINALLY travelling further south than Auckland after 2 months away from home!

My final tally was 65 new members persuaded, cajoled, or guilt-tripped into joining up, a figure which I'm relatively happy with :D Plus I saved up enough money to see the whole country, which is good!

So blogwise, hopefully something vaguely interesting to look at someday soon...I PROMISE!

Holy shizbot

Right, so, things are progressing well for moi at the moment! Have just learnt that I will be going on a Travel Team trip with Greenpeace for a week to spread the word, which is excellent - they only put people on travel team who they think are good, so, weee!

Annoyingly the trip is up north to where I have already been lol, but nonetheless it is a good oppurtunity AND more importantly there will now be decent photo oppurtunites! Wahey!

Think I'll be heading off on Sunday or Monday; will try to update blog next week with progress and whatnot.

Other than that, been fairly laid back down here recently. Saw England get thrashed in netball by NZ on Monday, (26 - 65) did sum kareoke last night, and off to see some dueling pianos on Thursday, which basically involves 2 grand pianos and 2 guys competing to play the best tunes! I of course will be requesting ridiculously complicated classical pieces for them :D

Hope things are well back home!

Rainy Days

Agh it is raining in Auckland for the whole week, what is up with that?!

Hi, just thought I'd update the blog which is slowly dissolving into boringness since I'm working 5 days a week and have no fun photos anymore :<

However the photo situation will be redeemed as soon as the weather brightens up and I head over to Devonport for a nice weekend, so watch this space!

Work is going well, am getting used to the abuse and torment on the streets as I spread the word! 31 signups in total now after 8 days. When i reach 50 I get a free t-shirt :o Massive incentive right there!

Hope all is well in Europe. Down under it's sweet as, bro.

Zoo!

Ok well, not much to say really. It's a zoo lol. Fun trip though!

Work is hard. So far I have signed up 7 new Greenpeace members in 2 days; not too shabby. Gonna stick with it for a while, so no interesting photos for a few months perhaps :<

Jobness!

It took a week but I have secured a job! Gonna be working for Greenpeace on the streets of Auckland raising awareness about the environment etc. If I'm good at it will get to travel the whole country with them, so, wish me luck!

Arrival in New Zealand

Right, arrival in New Zealand! Landed in Auckland 12pm Monday and went to see a dormant volcano in the middle of the city - coincidentally where the All Blacks train endurance by running up the hill.

Sitting in ACB (Auckland Central Backpackers) at the moment which is fairly massive. Sorting out work and tax thingys this morning, hopefully get some work sorted soonish.

Kinda wanting to get out the city sharpish and see some landscapes. Hopefully happening in next couple of days.

Oh first photo was a bronze circular thingy showing distances to various world cities - 18,339km to London. Think that's about as far away as I can get from home :)
